summer seasons greetings my friends,
let’s dive into another week of DAO goodness. we went deep on a few hot topics on the pod this week. highly recommend a listen, but if ya don’t got the time we got that quick hitta right here for you 🤝
⬇️ discussed on the pod
🧐there are some major problems with DAO governance (surprise!)
Governance + participation continues to be the biggest bottleneck for DAO operations, efficiency, and growth. Surveys like this are important but we need solutions.
big takeaway: too many people self-selecting as “organizational design experts” + then designing organizations poorly. Dennison goes deep on this in the audio version. Check it.
🥊nounsDAO is taking over — but what are the downsides?
there is more than one way to design a DAO. determining which is best for yours is EXTREMELY important. how do you do that? define your goals, purpose, & vision — then design the organizational structure accordingly. proper incentive structures make or break a DAO. lay the ground work early or reap the consequences later on.
we live tweeted a response during our recording: "allocate the startup founder greater decision making power at the beginning but eventually they get diluted out allow the group participants to eventually challenge the founders as time goes on --> more decision making power goes to the community”
👍🏽optimistic governance, hierarchies, & DAO working groups hit the mainstream
small (5-10 people) working groups with localized hierarchies (i.e. Orca’s Pods) are gaining traction within the DAO space
Pods allow for more flexibility, speed, and efficiency within a DAO but can create opaque organizational structures. Another subject that requires more nuance than we can write in 4 sentences. Make sure to check out the full discussion on the pod.
💃 should governance be entertaining?
a spicy take from our good friend Chase. what do you think?
just so happens the Dope Wars team submitted an epic proposal on the Tally dashboard this week
