✅Rari Fuse hack repayment proposal PASSES. Is this type of gov. bribing good?
Remind me: A major DeFi hack saw $80 million stolen from the Rari ecosystem, affecting large (Frax, Olympus) & small players (TribeDAO members) alike. Months ago, TribeDAO members voted via Snapshot to reimburse victims of the hack. Subsequently, TribeDAO refused to execute the Snapshot vote as Snapshot is an off-chain, non-binding sentiment vote. When it came down to it, TribeDAO & Fei Protocol leaders refused to execute the proposal on-chain. Uh-oh. 🙄
Fast forward to now — Olympus, led by @sh4dowlegend, amasses support from the community by promising repayment if votes are delegated accordingly to get the proposal passed on-chain and…SUCCESS!
What does this mean? This is a win for the little guy(s), but this sets a dangerous precedent. Financialization of votes incentivizes dangerous short-term DAO behavior (i.e. raiding of treasuries, see example below), only time will tell how this plays out but we advise caution when delegating.
